Responding to a mother’s pleas to help find her son’s killer, council members recently agreed to consider starting a reward fund to encourage anyone with information to come forward. At Tuesday’s meeting, officials will determine whether the city should sponsor such a fund or work with an existing agency.

Councilman David Shawver suggested that the city start a $25,000 fund to help find the person who fatally shot Bernard “B.J.” Garcia Lopez Jr., 18, in front of his home two years ago. The fund, if established, would also be used to resolve other criminal cases, Shawver said. The council meets at 6:30 p.m. in chambers, 7800 Katella Ave.
