MISSION VIEJO
Community Services commissioners Tuesday decided on the name Florence Joyner Olympiad Park for a future park. The recommendation, which will go to the City Council next month, followed a moving speech by Mission Viejo resident Al Joyner, widower of Olympic gold medalist Florence Griffith Joyner. Some residents opposed renaming the entire park after Joyner and advocated leaving the name Olympiad Park to recognize all Olympians from the city.
