Can These Plums Be Saved?

Share

When I’m at a farmers market, I always seem to get carried away. I buy much more fresh fruit than I need, so I’m left with a dilemma: How can I use all the fruit before it spoils?

I recently bought some beautiful red Santa Rosa plums that needed to be used--quickly. So I whipped them into an icy cold breakfast smoothie made with nonfat milk. If your plums aren’t real sweet, you might want to add three to four tablespoons of honey. The lime juice adds a nice accent to the plum flavor. This drink is best blended and enjoyed right away, as the color fades over time.
