TUSTIN
The City Council on Monday opted not to approve an ordinance that bans in-line skating and skateboarding in city parks. Instead, the council tabled the ordinance and asked that it be changed so that it does not “stifle” children’s enjoyment of the parks. The parks were created for children to skate and skateboard, the council majority said.
City staff proposed the ordinance because three picnic tables were recently damaged at Heritage and Cedar Grove parks by skateboarders and in-line skaters, said Pat Sanchez, Parks and Recreation Director.
