* Update--This is for none of the marbles, not even a tiny bite of the enchilada. Could there be two more disappointing teams in baseball? (OK, the Dodgers.) Many had predicted that the Tigers, who were thought to have one of baseball’s best young infields, some fine young starting pitchers and a solid bullpen, would at least finish second in the American League Central and maybe challenge the Cleveland Indians. The Angels were picked by many to win the West title. But these underachievers have the two worst records in the league, they’re on pace to lose close to 100 games each, and they’re simply playing out the season.

* Saturday, 1 p.m. PDT--Ken Hill (4-11, 4.86) vs. Brian Moehler (8-11, 5.39).

* Sunday, 10 a.m. PDT--Chuck Finley (6-10, 5.26) vs. Justin Thompson (9-10, 4.56).
