Suspect in Dog Killing Held in Assault on Police

A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting detectives who were investigating the death of a dog that was shot with an arrow, police said Friday.

Brian Robert Allen, 36, a suspect in the dog’s slaying, shouted profanities and challenged two Anaheim police detectives before attacking them near his apartment Thursday, officials said. The detectives, who had been interviewing his neighbors, called for backup and, with help from patrol officers, arrested Allen.

The dog was found near death last week in a park near Allen’s home on West Felicidad Circle. Investigators said the dog may have been taken from its owner’s backyard before being wounded by an arrow that pierced its heart.

Allen was arrested and charged with assault and battery of police officers and resisting arrest. He has not been charged with killing the dog but is a suspect, Police Sgt. Paul Dohmann said.

Allen was being held Friday at the Anaheim Police Detention Facility. Bail was set at $25,000.
