Tornado Damage Set at $150 Million

The deadly tornado that unexpectedly tore through Salt Lake City’s downtown left at least $150 million in damage, Mayor Deedee Corradini estimated. The twister killed one man, destroyed five houses and damaged 180 other buildings. Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt has asked President Clinton for a disaster declaration to cover $8.3 million worth of damage.
