Lacking Real Lives, They Focus on Killers

Share

Freaks such as Bob Vessels, Tony Mendoza, John Aes-Nihil and James admire monstrous murderers (“Killer Obsession,” Aug. 4) because they lead pathetically dull lives. No doubt these idiots have never been anywhere or done anything of interest, much less helped anyone or made any sort of positive contribution to the world. They probably still live at home with their mommies. Due to their limited imaginations and lack of life experience, they cling desperately to the infamy of these criminals in order to bring some sort of excitement and purpose to their lives. I’m sure the lives of Susan Fisher of the Doris Tate Crime Victims Bureau and Ralph Meyer of Parents of Murdered Children are much more fascinating and inspiring.

There will always be losers. Let’s leave them alone to play their silly games and live their inconsequential lives while the rest of us actually make something of ourselves and try to make the world a better place.

Bob Vessels was quoted as saying he agrees “it’s inconsiderate” to glorify the serial killers, “but the world is ugly.” No, Mr. Vessels, the world isn’t ugly. The world is neutral. Some of nature can seem cruel and ugly to humans, but mostly nature is perceived as beautiful and brings us joy and wonder.

But humans! Yes, we can be very ugly, a choice you are making. But we can be totally the opposite. People who bear hardship, tragedy (like the hideous murder of a loved one), disabilities and illnesses with grace; people who care for others in illness and hardship with patience and loving kindness; people who refuse to lie and cheat; people who use their time, talent and resources to help people less fortunate. The list could go on, but these people make the world beautiful. “You makes your choices.”
