LAKE FOREST
The Orange County district attorney’s office filed charges against a Rancho Santa Margarita man Friday in connection with an armed robbery in front of a Lake Forest bank last month.
Authorities said Sheldon Kane, 21, robbed a U.S. Postal Service employee who was carrying money to be deposited in the bank.
Kane also was charged with committing a similar crime in San Juan Capistrano last month.
Kane’s pickup truck matches a description of the vehicle used in the Lake Forest robbery, Orange County sheriff’s deputies said. Deputies said the truck’s license plate is also similar to a description provided by a witness.
Deputies said they are still investigating a suspected accomplice in the Lake Forest robbery.
Kane is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
