* A recent Readers Digest special report revealed the horrific truth behind the innocent faces of puppies sold in pet stores across the country. Even as millions of dogs are being killed in animal shelters each year, “puppy mills” are breeding thousands for sale in pet shops.
People looking for a companion animal should adopt from their local humane society, shelter or rescue club. Only when people make a vow to adopt animals instead of buying them will we see a reduction in the number tragically killed in our nation’s shelters.
