The Report Card: Company provides information directly to consumers from its Web site and sells its data and software to real estate agents. If you visit the Web site of an agent who is a 2001Beyond customer, that agent can send you a printed report for free.

You can compare up to four school districts in one report. Each 12- to 16-page report lists about 115 facts. (For large districts, data is organized into clusters of schools.) Information about individual schools is not available.

From 2001Beyond you can learn in what grades the school districts begin instruction in music, computer skills and art, among other subjects. For high schools, reports list extracurricular activities and sports offered in the district.

Principals’ names and schools’ phone numbers are included.

The reports are worthwhile if you want to compare districts before deciding where to house-hunt. If you need facts about a specific school, look elsewhere.

Room for Improvement: Only room for five short lines on the “FYI” pages to tell parents about special programs or features.

Price: A report on one district ordered from the Web site is $4.50. Two to four districts are $6.50.
