Mobile phone provider Nokia has signed a one-year, multimillion-dollar marketing deal with News Corp. in connection with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Sept. 12 broadcast of the 51st Emmy Awards program. The deal, brokered by the media company’s Los Angeles-based marketing arm, News Corp. One, calls for the publishing company to market Nokia’s involvement in the awards show and related events through 35 print, broadcast and Internet properties ranging from Fox Broadcasting Co. to TV Guide magazine. “Typically, the network that has this show would sell commercials in it,” News Corp. One Vice President Mark Stroman said. “But this is an integrated marketing package that allows Nokia to target women ages 18 to 49.” Nokia will use the marketing program to introduce a new mobile phone.
