During two sting operations in the last week, police arrested 41 people suspected of soliciting prostitution. Lt. Art Romo said that 25 men were arrested Aug. 20 after allegedly making verbal agreements to pay female police officers working undercover as prostitutes in a shopping center at the corner of Katella Avenue and Glassell Street. According to Romo, the men were arrested after they drove themselves to a nearby motel to meet with the women.

On Tuesday, police arrested nine women who allegedly solicited sex after answering calls to come to an apartment to give massages. Two women and five men who answered calls were arrested and charged with working without a license as masseurs.

Romo said the stings were done in response to residents’ complaints and to send out a message that Orange will not tolerate prostitution.
