Community Chest : Residents Submit to ‘Arrest’ for MD

* Residents of Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake and Agoura Hills will have themselves “arrested,” to be freed on $1,000 bail, in a benefit for the midstate chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Assn., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Westlake Village Inn, 31943 Agoura Road, Westlake Village. The volunteer prisoners will be held at the inn, where they will raise the pledge money. Information: 683-8566.

Organ Transplant Groups to Host Auction

* The Ventura chapter of Transplant Recipients International and the Dumont-UCLA Transplant Center will host the inaugural Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Luncheon and Auction from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Sherwood County Club, 320 Stafford Road, Thousand Oaks. Dr. Ronald Busuttil, president of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and Phoenix Suns basketball announcer Keith Erickson, a former Los Angeles Laker, will be guest speakers. $50. 24-Hour Walks to Benefit Cancer Society

* The American Cancer Society will hold Relay for Life fund-raisers at four Ventura County locations in September. Noncompetitive, 24-hour walks will be held Sept. 11-12 at Camarillo and Oxnard high schools, and Sept. 25-26 at Newbury Park High School and Simi Valley’s Royal High School. Relay teams will raise sponsorship money to benefit the Cancer Society’s research, educational programs and services to cancer patients and their families. Chandler Museum Hosts Private Tours

* The Otis Chandler Vintage Museum of Transportation and Wildlife will host a fund-raiser for the American Heart Assn. Sept. 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. at 1421 Emerson Ave., Oxnard. Newbury Park Rotarians Plan Oktoberfest

* The Rotary Club of Newbury Park will host its 13th annual Oktoberfest from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at Conejo Creek Park North, at Highway 23 and Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. There will be German music, dancing and food, as well as arts and crafts booths and children’s activities. Proceeds will benefit local charities. Free admission. Information: 373-1405.

Moorpark High School to Host 8K, 2K Runs

* The fourth annual Ventura County 8K Championship and 2K Family Run/Walk will be held Sept. 12 at Moorpark High School, 4500 Tierra Rejada Road. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. with the 8K starting at 8 a.m. and the 2K beginning at 9 a.m. Both courses will begin on a trail behind the high school and finish on the school track. Proceeds will benefit Moorpark High School students. Registration for the 8K run is $17 including a souvenir T-shirt, $10 without a T-shirt in advance; $20 at the gate. Simi Rotary Club to Present Car Show

* The Simi Valley Rotary Club will host a benefit Simi Valley Days Car Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at 4100 Los Angeles Ave. Proceeds will benefit charitable and nonprofit groups in Simi Valley. $20 per car to enter the show; admission is $5 adults, $1 children 12 and younger, or $10 per family. Rotary Club to Help Sponsor Golf Tourney

* The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise will be among the sponsors of the Fall Classic Golf Tournament to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley, Sept. 15 at the Simi Hills Golf Course, 5031 Alamo St. The 10th annual benefit will include lunch, door prizes and dinner served at the Boys & Girls Club. $125.
