Oxnard Airport

* For the folks who buy a home near the airport and then complain about aircraft noise, I submit the following:

* You have no right to complain about an environment that you voluntarily subjected yourself to.

* The airport is a vital part of the economic viability of your community. This is a “business-friendly city.”

* The airport is part of the community and the community is growing. You cannot expect the surrounding community to grow and the airport not to grow with it.

* There is room for the airport to accommodate expansion within its existing boundaries.

* The revenue the city and county receive from the airport is in the millions. Without that income, your taxes would likely go up.

* Overall, business jets, propeller and turboprop aircraft will continue to operate from this airport just as buses, trains and trucks move on our highways. On occasion, this will occur at times when babies are asleep. This is the reality of moving close to an airport; get over it!

If real problems do exist, let’s discuss them with each other and work toward a solution without the inflammatory rhetoric that achieves nothing.
