Teachers received more than $17,000 in Star Power grants from the Fullerton School District Educational Foundation at a ceremony Tuesday. The grants, distributed annually, will be used to fund classroom projects, field trips and other teacher initiatives in 10 schools and 51 classrooms. The aim is to let teachers pursue their ideas without having to spend their own money, said Konnie Gault, a district spokeswoman. There were 40 applications submitted this year, and 19 grants were awarded, Gault said. Grants will support the production of an all-school newspaper at Acacia Elementary School, a gardening project at Richman Elementary School, a machine-building program for kindergartners at Raymond Elementary School and a cooking curriculum for second-graders at Commonwealth Elementary School.
