Titans’ Beck Returning for Final Year
Chris Beck, the top hitter on Cal State Fullerton’s College World Series team last season, has decided to return to the Titans for his senior season after back problems kept him from signing a pro contract last summer.
“It will be a huge boost for us to have Chris back,” Titan Coach George Horton said Thursday. “He’s been to Omaha and was one of our best players there. He’ll be able to help show the way for our new players.”
Beck was drafted in the 19th round by the St. Louis Cardinals last June but didn’t sign because of back trouble that developed late in the season.
Beck, who played first base last season after moving from the outfield, batted .408 with 75 runs batted in and eight home runs.
