Richmond 73, Long Beach State 62--Charles Stephens had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Spiders in the consolation game of the Carrier Classic at Syracuse, N.Y.
Greg Stevenson had 17 points and Scott Ungerer 15 for Richmond. James Williams had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Long Beach, which shot 30%.
With the score tied at 13-13, Richmond (3-2) went on a 19-4 run and took a 36-21 halftime lead over the Long Beach (2-3).
Ramel Lloyd, who scored 25 points in Long Beach’s loss to St. Joseph’s on Friday, was six for 21 from the field and had 16 points. Lloyd played for Syracuse as a freshman and transferred after the 1996-97 season.
