Possible Florida State Violation Reported
Florida State junior defensive end Roland Seymour used a personal trainer without paying for the services last summer, a possible NCAA rules violation, and the school took no action, the Houston Chronicle reported. Bob Minnix, Florida State’s associate athletic director for compliance, confirmed to the newspaper that he became aware in August that Seymour used the trainer last June and July in Houston, but an investigation led him to believe no action was warranted. By taking no action, Florida State could face institutional sanctions, including forfeitures, although such sanctions would be unlikely if the school is found to have thoroughly investigated the matter. Seymour, 6 feet 4 and 254 pounds, was limited much of the season by a shoulder injury. . . . Clemson offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez, 36, is expected to become the next coach at Texas Tech, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
