Cabdriver Killed in Wreck Was an Anaheim Resident

Authorities on Monday released the identity of the taxi driver who died over the weekend when a BMW crashed into his cab in Newport Beach.

Police said Kenneth C. King, 60, of Anaheim died Saturday night when Rami Salim Naber crossed over the center median of Pacific Coast Highway in his 1997 BMW M3 and hit King’s cab going in the opposite direction. The crash also killed the BMW’s passenger, Satish Kumar Patel, 32, of Anaheim.

Naber, 30, of Huntington Beach was listed in stable condition at UCI Medical Center on Monday. He was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and suspicion of drunk driving.

Cesar Hernandez, operations manager at A Taxi Cab, where King had worked for a few months, said he had no family and that he lived in motels. Hernandez said other taxi drivers were collecting money for King’s funeral expenses.
