SAN CLEMENTE
The City Council has selected Councilwoman Susan E. Ritschel to serve a one-year term as mayor and Councilman G. Wayne Eggleston as mayor pro tem.
Ritschel, who previously served as mayor pro tem, succeeds outgoing Mayor Lois R. Berg. Berg will return to her regular seat on the council after her yearlong term as mayor.
“I’m thrilled to be able to serve as the city’s millennium mayor,” Ritschel said. “This is an exciting time for all of us and our city.”
