ANAHEIM
The numbers of rapes and assaults have increased in Anaheim, prompting a city review. With the new statistics in hand, Councilman Frank Feldhaus directed Police Chief Roger Baker on Tuesday to examine how police can curtail the violence.
Over the last year, rapes have gone up by 21%, while assaults have increased by 36%. Sgt. Joe Vargas said that although the number of assaults has gone up this year, the rate has dropped over the last five years.
