OXNARD — A 67-year-old Port Hueneme man died at a local hospital Friday night, following a traffic accident at Hueneme Road and J Street, authorities said.
Francisco Cantos Ebete died about 7 p.m. at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he was taken after a two-car crash that occurred three hours earlier in south Oxnard, authorities said.
Ebete was making a left turn from eastbound Hueneme Road onto J Street when his car was broadsided by an oncoming sport utility vehicle, authorities said.
There was no evidence that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, authorities said. The SUV driver, Oxnard resident Leah Gonzales Alvarado, 23, received minor injuries.
The crash was still being investigated Friday night.
Ebete, who was retired, is survived by his wife and several children.
An autopsy is scheduled today.
