Description of Birth Method Is Challenged
Regarding “Birth Methods Examined” (Capsules, Dec. 6), Thomas Maugh II might be interested to learn that vacuum extraction does not “literally suck the fetus out of the uterus,” as he stated. The vacuum is usually applied to the baby’s head--not the vagina--after it has descended into the birth canal.
