Council Denies Bar’s Bid to Go Topless

The Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to deny permission for the owners of a bikini bar in Tarzana to convert it into a topless bar, with council members saying it is inappropriate for an adult business to be located within 500 feet of homes.

“It’s too close to residential,” said Councilwoman Laura Chick.

Councilman Hal Bernson said the owners of Dino’s Show Bar at 18454 Oxnard St. did not prove that an exception should be granted to the ban on adult businesses within 500 feet of residential zones.

Roger Diamond, an attorney for bar owner Dean Gettleson, indicated to the council that he would probably sue the city to reverse the council action.
