Darryl Pope, director of compliance at Temple University since February 1998, was hired Friday by Cal State Northridge as compliance officer and will begin his new job on Jan. 10.
Pope, a 1986 graduate of Howard University, succeeds Kathleen Heitzman, who left the school in August to become associate athletic director for compliance at San Francisco State.
Pope served as compliance coordinator at Maryland-Eastern Shore from August 1995 to February 1998 before working at Temple.

Linebacker Brennen Swanson of Northridge has been selected to the second-team defense of the Division I-AA All-America team. Swanson, a senior and the Matadors’ career sack leader, is the only Northridge player representatives.
Running back Charles Roberts of Cal State Sacramento and tackle Lance Knaevelsrud of Eastern Washington were the only first-team selections representing the Big Sky Conference.
