Beverly Schlieder, who for more than 14 years has been answering emergency calls for the Police Department, was named 1999 City Employee of the Year. City officials called Schlieder a “dynamo,” and noted that she was selected for her outstanding service to the city. “She’s just been an outstanding individual,” City Administrator Robert D’Amato said. “She’s very professional in a stressful position such as dispatcher. She’s cool, calm and collected, and she is extremely helpful to the officers in the field.”
