Organizers of a recall effort against Mayor John Gullixson said they have collected more than 500 signatures calling for a special election to vote him out of office.
About 6,550 signatures from registered voters living in the city limits must be collected by February for a recall election to be called.
On Tuesday, longtime resident Mike Orth signed the petition outside the local post office, calling the mayor “rude” and “boorish.” Brett Barbre, another longtime resident, agreed that Gullixson can be brash, “but he gets things done.” Barbre said he will not sign the petition.
