SAN CLEMENTE

The head of a San Clemente food bank for the nonprofit Episcopal Service Alliance said community support has been overwhelming this Christmas and will allow the organization to help more than 200 needy families celebrate the holidays this season.

“It’s been tremendous,” Shawn Harding said. “There’s really a lot of stuff here, I wouldn’t even be able to guess how much.”

Harding and several volunteers have spent the last few weeks putting together Christmas baskets with toys, food and gift certificates from a number of grocery and department stores.

The baskets were made possible through a strong show of support from community members and, in particular, a number of local churches.
