The county Board of Supervisors this week approved Saddleback Church’s plan to buy a small section of county land along Marguerite Parkway. The sale will put the final legal touches on the church’s wider vision for the bridge over the Aliso Creek valley, said Steve Culp, the church’s director of property development.

The church built the bridge last spring to give about 40,000 South County members an alternate entry route off Marguerite Parkway, Culp said.

Buying the land on either side of the bridge, where church entrance monuments now sit, was “sort of the last teeny piece to the puzzle,” Culp said.
