Anaheim Public Utilities says it’s ready for Y2K. The company says that over the past three years all of its major systems have been tested and replaced as necessary. “We feel we’re ready,” said Bonnie Woodson, the public utilities technology development manager.

The computers tested include those monitoring the flow of electricity and water, as well as personal computers, printers and alarm devices. Woodson said the company will deploy 57 people on New Year’s Eve, versus the eight or nine usually available, to make sure that systems run smoothly and if necessary, respond manually to any problems caused by computer glitches.
