City Hall officials are accepting bids from architects for its Police Department expansion project.
The City Council approved the $9-million expansion last month, giving the go-ahead to demolish a warehouse and furniture store adjacent to the station.
City officials will consider hiring Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, a Santa Monica-based architectural firm that was hired to conduct a space-need study before the plan was approved. The firm will submit its proposal for a final design during the second week of January, said Assistant City Engineer Don Hoppe.
