SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
Authorities have stored an extra fire engine at Dana Point’s fire station in case of a new year’s emergency, an Orange County Fire Authority representative said.
In addition, two extra battalion chiefs will be on duty, as well as a safety officer, two additional dispatchers and a communication supervisor. A helicopter will also be staffed for the entire 24 hours.
Residents with Y2K concerns on New Year’s Eve can call the Orange County Fire Authority’s nonemergency number at (714) 532-7262 or (714) 532-7266.
The headquarters will be staffed with extra personnel from 7 a.m. on New Year’s Eve to 8 a.m. New Year’s Day, said Trish Sysak, Orange County Fire Authority spokeswoman.
