The City Council adjusted speed limits on several streets by 5 mph last week after a survey found they didn’t comply with state law. Cities are required to survey their streets every five years and adjust speed limits to match what 85% of the cars are actually driving.

The latest survey found the following streets will be raised 5 mph: Westminster Boulevard, from Milan Avenue to Springdale Street, currently 40 mph; and Edwards Street from Westminster Boulevard to the San Diego Freeway, currently 35 mph.

The following streets will be lowered 5 mph: 21st Street, from Goldenwest Street to Hoover Street, currently 30 mph; Westminster Boulevard from Beach Boulevard to Newland Street, currently 40 mph; Bishop Place from Magnolia Street to Bushard Street, currently 30 mph; Bishop from Bushard to Brookhurst Street, currently 35 mph; and Bolsa Avenue from Brookhurst to Ward Street, currently 45 mph.
