Rates Climb on 3-, 6-Month Treasury Bills

Interest rates on short-term Treasury securities rose at auction. The Treasury Department sold $7.5 billion in three-month bills at a discount rate of 4.4%, up from 4.31% last week. An additional $7.5 billion was sold in six-month bills at a rate of 4.39%, up from 4.28%. The three-month rate was the highest since Dec. 28, when the bills sold at 4.52%. The six-month rate was the highest since Jan. 11, when it was 4.41%. In a separate report, the Federal Reserve said the average yield for one-year Treasury bills rose to 4.51% last week from 4.49% the previous week.
