Council to Consider Townhome Project

Share

The City Council will conduct a pre-application review tonight of a plan to build 374 townhome units at the southeast corner of Williams Drive and Wankel Way.

Proposed by Lauterbach and Associates of Oxnard and Van Nuys, the project would be within the city’s Northeast Community Specific Plan area.

The review is a chance for the council to comment on the project and help the developer determine whether it should be altered or abandoned before making a formal application to the city.

The council will consider how well the project meets the goals of the city’s plan for the area as well as whether it meets the city’s vision for a more livable community.

The project would be built on a 22-acre site zoned 12 to 18 units per acre, said Joyce Parker-Bozylinski, planning and environmental services manager. The developer has proposed 17 units per acre.

The developer wants to construct 374 townhome units--24 one-bedroom units, 286 two-bedroom units and 64 three-bedroom units.

The project also would be required to provide 10% of the units as affordable housing.
