A report to be presented to the City Council tonight shows that while motorcycle officers have been involved in only three accidents in the last 10 years, those accidents have cost the city about $106,000 more than the 42 accidents involving police cars during that same period.

Councilman Norman Eckenrode asked the Police Department in early January for a comprehensive review of accident costs--including workers’ compensation and vehicle repair--after two police motorcycle accidents in late December. The report tallies the costs associated with accidents since 1989. The council meets at 7:30 p.m., 401 E. Chapman Ave.
