SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO

Three students from Capistrano Unified School District’s seven middle schools won trophies Tuesday and were named winners of the district’s 1999 Middle School Spelling Contest. Kathryn Pena of Aliso Viejo Middle School came in first, followed by Lee Hepner of Newhart Middle School in Mission Viejo and Dane Russo of Shorecliffs Middle School in San Clemente. All three will compete in a countywide competition in March.
