The Children’s Museum at La Habra (301 S. Euclid St.) opens “Passport to the Amazon,” an interactive exhibit about the denizens and plant life of the rain forest, through June 13. Moving illustrations by Fullerton artist Paul Lee convey the drama of the 1839 shipboard mutiny of slaves in Veronica Chambers’ children’s book “Amistad Rising” (Harcourt Brace, 1998). “Beethoven, Haydn & Mozart--Why Were They So Cool?” at the Bowers Kidseum (1802 N. Main St., Santa Ana) enables kids to have fun learning about the Big Three. The session, at 2 p.m., is in conjunction with the Bowers Musuem of Art’s exhibit “Beethoven: Musical Treasures From the Age of Revolution and Romance.” Admission, good for both museums and the program, is $2-$6. Reluctant adventurer Bilbo Baggins is at it again in a one-hour children’s version of “The Hobbit,” produced with puppets and live actors by the Orange Coast College theater department.
