Davis to Spread Emotion Around

Share

Baron Davis said he is not concerned that Tuesday’s rebuke from the Pacific 10 Conference--a public reprimand that includes a season-long probation for future behavior--will cause him to tone down his emotions so much that it takes away from his game.

“I’ll still be emotional, but I’m going to channel it more to my team,” the Bruin point guard said.

“It’s just a challenge. I don’t talk trash or anything like that. I’m emotional with my teammates.

“It’s something I can control. I’m not a big psycho or anything.”

Davis also said he doesn’t expect opponents to try to bait him into something.

“This is a classy league and a lot of the other players are real classy, so I don’t think they’ll do anything like that,” he said.

Coming up: Sunday versus Oregon State, Feb. 11 at Stanford.

Tonight vs. Oregon, 7:30

* Update--UCLA Coach Steve Lavin will decide on his starting lineup today. The uncertainty is at small forward, where he is considering whether to stay with Matt Barnes for the second game in a row, go to Ray Young or return to JaRon Rush. Oregon, after a 9-1 start in which the only defeat came against well-regarded Minnesota, has lost four in a row and seven of eight.
