Colorado goaltender Patrick Roy earned his 400th victory and the Avalanche extended its winning streak to a franchise-record 11 in a row with a 3-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings Friday night at Detroit.

Joe Sakic, Adam Deadmarsh and Sylvain Lefebvre scored for the Avalanche, which has been perfect since a 3-2 loss to Detroit on Jan. 9.

Vyacheslav Kozlov scored for the Red Wings.

The Avalanche streak is the longest in the NHL since 1993, when the Toronto Maple Leafs opened the season 10-0.

Roy, the NHL player of the month in January, joined a very select group with the win. Only Terry Sawchuk (447), Jacques Plante (434), Tony Esposito (423) and Glenn Hall (407) ever won more games. Roy is the only active goalie with 400 wins.

It also was a career-best 10th consecutive victory for Roy, one better than the previous mark he set in 1994.

“Right now, I’m playing with a lot of confidence,” Roy said.

Detroit’s Larry Murphy played the 1,447th game of his NHL career, breaking Tim Horton’s league record for games by a defenseman.

Pittsburgh 3, Florida 0--Jaromir Jagr won a shootout of the NHL’s hottest scorers by injury default, scoring twice for the Penguins at Pittsburgh.

Tom Barrasso, out because of a strained neck for the first four games of the Penguins’ five-game winning streak, returned to stop 29 shots for his third shutout and 33rd of his career.

Pavel Bure, who had eight goals and three assists in six games with Florida, strained his right knee--apparently while accidentally stepping on the puck--late in the first period and did not return.

Bure will be reexamined today and his status for tonight’s Southeast Division game at division-leading Carolina is uncertain.

Washington 4, Carolina 1--Peter Bondra continued his torrid scoring binge with three goals as the Capitals stretched their winning streak to three games at Washington.

Jan Bulis had a goal and an assist and Adam Oates had two assists for Washington.

Martin Gelinas scored for Carolina, which has lost two in a row.

Edmonton 4, Nashville 2--Josef Beranek had a goal and an assist as the Oilers scored three times in the first period at Edmonton.

Bill Guerin, Pat Falloon and Mike Grier also scored for Edmonton, and Alex Selivanov added two assists to notch his first points as an Oiler since being acquired in a Jan. 29 trade with Tampa Bay. The line of Selivanov, Beranek and Falloon accounted for five points.

Jamie Heward and Greg Johnson scored power-play goals for Nashville.
