City Council Endorsements

Share

We strongly disagree with the article “Political Rift Clouds Race in 7th District,” (Jan. 30). The article alleges that we may be unable to work together on behalf of the northeast San Fernando Valley because we support opposing City Council candidates. The allegation is simply off the mark.

The fact is, when we realized we were backing different candidates, we formally agreed that we would not allow this difference of opinion to influence our ability to continue working together for the betterment of the Valley as we have over the years. There are far too many serious issues affecting our community that require our cooperative efforts.

Our shared goal, to effectively represent the Valley in Sacramento, will not be compromised by our endorsement choices. We recognize that there will be differences of opinion, but by working together we will demonstrate the unity and leadership we all want and expect.

Ultimately the voters will decide who they wish to represent them on the City Council. That is the democratic process. Each of us will accept that decision on election day and is committed to working with the voters’ choice to improve the Valley.
