Cars Damaged in Carport Fire; Arson Blamed

At least three cars were damaged and a carport was destroyed in an early-morning fire in Westminster that investigators said was set by arsonists.
Capt. Scott Brown of the Orange County Fire Authority said the 3:30 a.m. fire in the 7400 block of Maple Avenue in Westminster was contained by firefighters and did not spread to an adjacent apartment complex.
No one was hurt, but the fire caused $30,000 in damage to the carport and another $6,000 in damage to contents, including the vehicles, Brown said.
Investigators determined Saturday that the fire was deliberately set. Two men in a dark-colored Honda were seen in the area just before the fire was reported, Brown said.
Anyone with information should call the Orange County Fire Authority at (714) 744-0400.
