Mayor Harry Dotson grew tired of driving over potholes on Pacific Street, so last month he convinced the city that repairs were needed. But while undertaking the $119,000 Pacific Street Improvement Project, construction workers noticed that a 140-foot alley between Rose and Flower streets also needed work; severe flooding after a drain pipe collapsed earlier this year had damaged it.

Tuesday, the council will decide whether to pay an additional $35,411 to Holland-Lowe Construction, the contractors for the Pacific Street Improvement Project, to repair the alley. The council meets at 6:30 p.m. at 7800 Katella Ave.
