Funeral Services Set for Kidnap Victim
Police are still searching for two men in connection with the death of Chris Rawlings, the 30-year-old Woodland Hills father of two who died Wednesday night of injuries suffered when his Bentley crashed and burst into flames after an apparent kidnapping.
The incident is now being called a homicide, said Los Angeles Police Officer John Lee.
A funeral Mass for Rawlings will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, with Father John Knoernschild, a family friend and Rawlings’ high school principal, officiating.
Rawlings was kidnapped from his home Monday night as he returned from a trip to a nearby grocery store, police said. The men forced Rawlings into the trunk of the car and were driving away as police arrived at his home. A police chase ended when the car crashed into a power pole, ejecting Rawlings from the trunk.
Rawlings is survived by his wife, Barbie, and two young children.
