Poets have rhapsodized over love since time began. That’s fine for poets, but what about the rest of us? How do we express what we feel in our hearts? How do we let that special someone know how we feel?

* Glendale Adventist Hospital, 1509 Wilson Terrace, is hosting a “Sweetheart’s Day Celebration” Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants 65 and older will have the chance to renew their wedding vows, meet with other similar married couples and learn some tips for keeping the spark alive in their relationship. * The Valleyaires Barbershop Quartet is offering singing valentines. Prices range from $25 to $75, depending on your budget. The group will sing two love songs to your special someone live at the office, at home, in a restaurant or wherever, plus give the lucky person a rose and greeting card with your own message, for $45. * Looking for ideas to impress your honey? Robert Badal wrote the book “Romancing the Southland” in 1994. It listed a wide variety of romantic places in Southern California and ideas for celebrating your love. Badal says he got a bit carried away with the second edition of the book and it’s too big to print. So, he’s put it on the Internet. For $19.95, you can download text and more than 400 color photos. The book is cross-referenced by month of the year and more than 2,000 subjects covering 300 cities in nine counties.

* If music be the food of love, play on! The Cal State Northridge Music Department will present a Valentine’s Day concert featuring clarinetist Julia Heinen with pianist Shari Raynor at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Music Recital Hall. (818) 677-2488. $5-$10

*Love means never having to say you’re sorry. Love is all you need. When love speaks, the voice of all the gods makes heaven drowsy with the harmony. Speak low when you speak love. All is fair in love and war. Love is a game. Love is just a four-letter word. All that matters is love and work. Sunday is Valentine’s Day, the day for love.
