Donald Lawrence Kiltz; Retired Electrician

Ventura resident Donald Lawrence Kiltz died Thursday at a local hospital after a brief illness. He was 80.

Kiltz was born Aug. 26, 1918, in Woodstock, Ill. He worked as an electrician in Hawthorne for 23 years before retiring in 1978 and moving to Ventura.

Kiltz volunteered for Food Share, a countywide food bank, for 15 years and then made financial contributions for several years when he was no longer active.

He had many hobbies, including scuba diving, gold mining, fishing and traveling in his motor home.

Kiltz was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Kiltz, who died in 1997, and two sisters. He is survived by a brother, Leland Kiltz of Illinois.

There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. Monday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.

Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Food Share, Regional Food Bank of Ventura County, in Oxnard.
