Lacroix Is Traded to Rangers for Pronger

The Kings traded winger Eric Lacroix to the New York Rangers for center Sean Pronger on Friday in a deal involving only occasionally used players who have already been traded this season.

Lacroix was sent from Colorado to the Kings for Roman Vopat and a sixth-round draft choice on Oct. 29 and had only one point in 27 games with the Kings.

Pronger, Petr Nedved and Chris Tamer went to the Rangers from Pittsburgh on Nov. 25 for Alexei Kovalev and Harry York.

Center Ray Ferraro defused what could have been an ugly situation Tuesday at the Great Western Forum with something that he often uses to infuse the Kings’ offense: aggression.

A spectator behind the Kings’ bench during the game against San Jose began yelling ethnic epithets at Ferraro, who took them a bit, then retaliated with enough insults of his own to quell the language and the problem.

Basically, Ferraro pointed out the spectator’s abundant anatomy.

“I don’t want to make any big thing of this,” Ferraro said Friday. “But I’m from an area with a lot of Italians [British Columbia], and that’s one word you don’t use with us. I don’t think I have to put up with it.”
