Armenian Groups Hosting Forum With Sheriff Baca

Share

Armenian American groups will hold a forum Wednesday with recently elected Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca as the featured guest.

Baca will discuss public safety and youth-related issues, and answer audience questions, said John Krikorian, the groups’ spokesman.

Baca was invited to the meeting because of his campaign promise to represent all segments of the community, Krikorian said.

A coalition of groups including the Armenian student clubs at Hoover and Glendale high schools are sponsoring the event to give community members a chance to ask questions and present their concerns.

Bedros Hadjian, a prison chaplain who visits Armenian prisoners in Southern California; Tomik Alexanian, a community activist; and Anita Matta, vice president of campus relations at Glendale Community College, will be part of a three-member panel posing questions to Baca.

Law enforcement representatives from Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena have been invited to participate.

Wednesday’s free public forum will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Verdugo Hills Country Club, 400 W. Glenoaks Blvd., Glendale.
