GOVERNMENT CONTRACT AWARDS

* Merco Construction Engineers in Camarillo has been awarded a contract for $4.7 million to refurbish the utility systems at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura. The project involves demolishing buildings not suitable for repair, relocating utility systems, replacing the emergency generator system and updating the medical center’s electrical services.

The project is scheduled for completion in May 2000.

* Workrite Uniform Co. Inc. of Oxnard won a $2.2 million contract from the General Services Administration in Fort Worth for clothing.

* Schuler Engineering Corp. in Corona has been awarded a contract for $2.1 million from Ventura County to rebuild the Arroyo Simi Lift Station. The project, near Hitch Boulevard on the north bank of the Arroyo Simi, just outside Moorpark city limits, involves replacing the existing station to provide more reliable pumping units and improve operation.

The project, which is already underway, is scheduled for completion Dec. 14.

* Damar Construction in Goleta has been awarded a contract for $94,791 from Ventura County to clean out the Edgemore and West Camarillo Hills debris basins. The project is north of Las Posas Road between Valley Vista and Mission drives in Camarillo.

The project should be completed by Feb. 26.

* Franklin & Vizzo Plumbing in Ventura has been awarded a contract for $17,051 from Ventura County to extend the water line at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura. The project will allow the hospital to provide water to temporary kitchen trailers.

The work is expected to take two weeks.
